For Sunday, March 20th, 2016

This Saturday morning at 9:00am in Cranmer Hall, we will be making palm crosses.  It really is a great time for fellowship and a huge help.  I think the older children would enjoy this tradition also.  All are welcome, no previous experience needed!

Children

This Sunday is Palm Sunday.  The Supervisor this week will be Arthur Weed.  The Dad Squad Assembly Leader will be Alex Jarman.  The GG for this week will be Clayton Kennedy

This Sunday we will have a Special Event for Palm Sunday.  Children in Preschool – 5th should come to the 2nd floor Children’s Chapel area of Cranmer Hall at 9:30.

As a continuation of Sunday school, the children will be part of the choral procession for the first part of church.  Our schedule will be different from the normal schedule.  It will be as follows:

9:30 – Morning Assembly 2nd floor Cranmer Hall

9:40 – Father O’Brien will give a lesson on Palm Sunday and Holy Week

9:55 – The children will come into the Kindergarten and 1st grade classroom for a fun game of Holy Week Bingo.

10:15 – All teachers will walk their class down to the first floor. We will line the children up to process over to the church to join the service.

After the palm procession, all children will exit out the side door and back to Cranmer Hall for Psalm Psingers or lessons (Preschool – Kindergarten).  Those children who would like to rejoin their families in church will be walked around to the front doors and in to join their family.  Please make sure you talk with your child as to where you will be sitting or if they should come to Psalm Psingers.  Please know no child will be left unattended until in their correct place.

If you have a child Preschool – Kindergarten age and you would prefer that they stay in Cranmer Hall during Sunday School time and church, there will be someone there.  Please specify this when you drop them off.  If you have any concerns or questions, please do not hesitate to email, call, or ask on Sunday.  We want to make this an educational and memorable Sunday for all the children.

With this being Holy Week there are many opportunities to come and worship, but please make a note to bring your children and attend the Stations of the Cross service at 5:30 pm on Good Friday.  The service will begin at the “Priestly Parking Pad” – between the Green-Meldrim House and Church.  It is outside and moves in.  It tells the story of Jesus’ journey to the cross.  The children have learned about the stations during Lent.  Perfect for children!  This year, start a tradition for your family if you haven’t already.  It was amazing last year to watch the group move through the streets. People stopped to watch, and some even joined in.

Lenten Almsgiving

During Lent, the Church School and the Women of the church will be collecting items for the Fresh Air Home located on Tybee Island.  “Every summer the Fresh Air Home (FAH) opens its doors to hundreds of Savannah area children!   The mission of the Home is to improve the health of the children, to build character, and to help them grow into better men and women – both physically and morally.”

We will be collecting clothes detergent,  55 gallon trash bags, bleach, and pine sol cleaner.  There are bins located in the foyer of Cranmer Hall for all items.  Please give generously!  Susan Arden-Joly will speak with the children this Sunday after assembly about the Fresh Air Home.

Youth

This week the youth class will discuss:  “The world today and how do I navigate it?”

***All youth are asked to come to Cranmer Hall Saturday, March 28th to help make Palm Crosses.  Time 9:00am.
